Flow Switch

A flow switch is a device that monitors the flow of a fluid (liquid, gas, or steam) and, when the flow rate reaches a pre-set value, triggers a switch that can start or stop an action. It's a binary device, meaning it only provides a "flow" or "no-flow" signal, unlike a flow meter which gives a continuous measurement.
